His age in the 1850 Census Record is given as one year. His mother died on 21 September 1848, so in all likelihood she died in childbirth or some short time after.
He appears in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Census Records in his father's household, He is found on the same page as his father in the 1880 Census Record with wife Sarah C. (30) and children Alice (6), Laura May (4) and John M. (3).
