Private Faunce Hammond served with Bristol County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Faunce was born in May 20, 1737 in Rochester, Massachusetts.[1]

Faunce was a Revolutionary patriot, serving as a Private in Massachusetts, under Colonel Hathaway.[2]

Faunce moved to Dartmouth about 1777, and to Reading, Vermont, November 1787.[1]

On December 3, 1761, Faunce married Mary Holmes of Plymouth.[3] Faunce and Mary were parents to the following children:[1]

  • Nathaniel, b February 6, 1763
  • Stephen, b February 17, 1765
  • Ruth, b March 2, 1767
  • Luther, b May 28, 1769, died 1771
  • Sally. b March 31, 1771
  • Jabez Holmes, b May 1, 1773
  • Mary Clark, b July 13, 1775
  • Jiry, b September 25, 1778
  • Luther, b May 5, 1781
  • Thomas Faunce, b December 17, 1783


Faunce Hammond died February 8, 1813 in Reading, Vermont.[1]
