Biography

Kristian Arnold Benonisen was born 23 Sep 1882 at Hasfjord in Vikna.^[1]

He was recorded with his family at Hasfjord in the 1891 census,^[2] and at Hestøen in the 1900 census.^[3]

He married Kristine Jakobine Gabrielsen from Hatland in Vikna parish 15 Feb 1905.^[4]

He was recorded in the 1905 census in Liberty Township, Beltrami, Minnesota as Christian Hasfjord, 22 years old.^[5]

He was recorded in the 1910 census in Michigan, Nelson, North Dakota as Christian Hasfjord, 27 years old, living with wife Christine Hasfjord and children Torbjorn, Ragna, and Arne.^[6]

He was recorded in the 1920 census in St Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota as Christian Hasfjord, 37 years old, widowed, and a lodger in the household.^[7]

He petitioned for naturalization for himself and his children 9 May 1929.^[8] According to this record, he worked as a machinist helper, and had lived in Philadelphia since 15 Mar 1924. He had emigrated from Liverpool 24 Feb 1905, and had arrived in Portlane(sic), Maine, 17 Mar 1905.

He was naturalized 5 Apr 1930 in Philadelphia.^[9]

He died 19 Feb 1948, and was buried in Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa.^[10]
