Biography

"In May 1359, at the age of eleven, John Hastings had been married to Margaret (b. 1347), the twelve-year-old daughter of Edward III, but she died late in 1361. Now in 1368, a man of twenty-one, the earl married Anne (b. 1355), daughter and sole heir of the legendary soldier, Sir Walter Mauny. Anne was only thirteen in 1368 and her husband left her in England while he pursued a military career overseas." (Ref: ODNB)

Sir John Hastings, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, K.G., died April 1375. He was survived by his wife Anne, and their two-year-old son, John ... now 3rd Earl of Pembroke. Tragically, his son was killed during a tournament in Woodstock on 13 Dec 1389.[1]
