Research Note

William Henry is, of course, not an uncommon name. It appears that more than one William Henry might be confounded in this profile. Perhaps the merge that was completed in 2022 was a merge of two different individuals? Here are the contradictory facts:

According to research done at Red Hill, Patrick Henry's last home and the location of the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation, and referenced in John Ragosta's book on Patrick Henry,[3] William was born in 1763 in Hanover County, Virginia and died in 1798 in New Bern, North Carolina. Other sources in this profile suggest that he was born in 1769 and died in 1842 in Plattsburg, Ohio.
There are two different FAG sites, one of which clearly references the William Henry who was the son of Patrick Henry and Sarah Shelton Henry and indicates William died in 1798 in New Bern[4], while the other provides no information about place of birth or parentage and indicates he was born in 1769 and died in 1842 in Plattsburg, Ohio.[5]
The Red Hill information,[3] supported by the FindAGrave source[4]indicates that William was married to the widow, Elizabeth Graves Cooke and had no children. The other sources suggest his wife's name was Elizabeth Johnson Henry and they had one child, who was born in December of 1800, well after the death of the Red Hill William in 1798.

Based on these discrepancies, it seems appropriate to create a new William Henry, perhaps the same created as Henry-16449 before the merger, that Elizabeth Johnson Henry be detached from this profile and that Hamilton Henry be detached from this profile and added as a son to that profile. (Jack Schaffer, 4th great grand nephew of William Henry. If completed, this research note could be deleted. Thank you.)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
