The elder Margaret Hepburn now has her own profile and it is hoped the two will not be conflated again.

The sources for Margaret have been less than ideal so I added some sources from The Complete Peerage and Scots Peerage, neither of which mentions Wemyss. The profile for Wemyss has no reliable source but rather relies on Burke. If you would like to disconnect him from this profile, I have no objection.
Unfortunately, I can't disconnect him. It requires someone pre-1500 authorized. Couldn't disconnect at the other end because Wemyss was born around 1490. Since it's pretty positive he was married to her daughter, I seriously doubt they were married. The age gap could be talked away because in their time money and property were the most important thing. But, Wemyss was married to Catherine (Sinclair-182) from 1512-1520. By that time, Margaret would have been 64.
Someone pre-1500 authorized really needs to remove this particular relationship.
I suspect the earlier merge may have introduced a new error or perpetuated an old one. Margaret (wife of Alexander Cunningham) is stated in the biography of this profile and several sources as the daughter of Sir Adam Hepburn and Janet de Borthwick. The Adam she is attached to is the grandson of Sir Adam and Janet de Borthwick, i.e. the correct Adam Hepburn is the father of Patrick 1st Lord Hailes, not the son.
The confusion has probably come about due to duplications in father's name over 4 generations, e.g.
Patrick; Sir Adam of Hailes; Patrick (1st Lord Hailes); Adam
I believe the dates for the latter two are actually for the earlier two Partick/Adam. I'm happy to research this further and post more detail in due course. Also Margaret would have been 4 on the birth of her son William?!!
The profile was conflated with two separate women named Margaret Hepburn each with a father named Adam and they have now been separated with the elder Margaret having the new profile Margaret Hepburn
Hepburn-173 and Hepburn-16 appear to represent the same person because: Alexander Cunningham has two wives called Margaret Hepburn Sinclair. Presumably these are the same woman but the dates are quite different. Could the PMs take a look and see what they think? Thanks.
