William was born in 1572 at Powis Castle, near Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He was Lord High Steward to Elizabeth I of England. He was elected Member of the English Parliament for Montgomeryshire in 1597.
He married Lady Eleanor Percy, daughter of the 8th Earl of Northumberland. They had several children.
He was appointed High Sheriff of Montgomeryshire in 1613.[1] On 12 April 1629, he was created Baron Powis of Powis Castle.
He passed away in 1655. [2]
He was buried at St Mary's Church, Church End, Hendon, Middlesex, England.
