"The natiuitie of the ladie Anne Harbert, second daughter to the righte honorable Henry earle of Penbrooke, the nynthe of Marche in the yeare of our Lord, one thousand, fiue hundred, fourescore and two [new style, 1583] the godfather, the lord Shandoes, the godmothers, the countesse of Warricke, and the Ladie anne Talbott."[1]
Mary (Sidney), Anne's mother, negotiated with the Earl of Hertford as a groom for her daughter.[2]
The first wife, Frances, of the Earl of Hertford (William Seymour) died in 1598. Two years later a letter shows his interest in Lady Anne:
The author Lady Theresa Lewis believed because the marriage did not happen and the Earl married Francis, widow of Henry Pranell, in 1616, that Lady Anne "was not favourable to his suit."[3] Another source points out that Anne had a recurring illness and the countess took her to Cambridge for the best medical care, but she died there.[4]
Anne Ladie Harbart daughter of the Countesse of Pembroke was buried the xith of Januarie 1606 at great St. Maries Parrish in Cambridge, England.[5]
