Biography

Thankful Higgins was born 17 AUG 1717 Truro MA.[1][2][3] [2]She died 16 MAR 1792 Hartland CT [3]and is buried at East Hartland Cemetery, Hartland, Hartford, Connecticut, (no headstone photo)[4]

Thankful is thought to be the mother of Alexander Bushnell having him out of wedlock with William Bushnell.[5]She married Daniel Rathbone less than 4 months after Alexander's birth. William Bushnell was found to be the father of another child too, and assigned child support payments.

To my knowledge, no one has been able to find documentation for a marriage between Thankful and William Bushnell. But, there is a court case where she claimed he was the father of Alexander. She married Daniel Rathbone less than 4 months after Alexander's birth, likely not enough time to divorce.
