Biography

Lewis Hogg[2] was born in 1670 in an unknown location in Virginia. It has been said that he was born in Frederick County but that county was not formed until the middle decades of the eighteenth century; nor was the area settled by white people until long after 1670. ( Patricia Prickett Hickin, 21 July 217.)
Lewis seems not to have married until he was of middle age; his first known child seems to have been born when he was in his mid-fifties.

From The University of Texas

Biographical Sketch:
"Lewis Hogg (1670-1747) was born in Virginia. He married Mary Margaret Lindsey, daughter of John Lindsey and Elizabeth Bethwell. Their son, John Hogg (1725-1782), was the only one of three children to survive past the age of two. He served in the Revolutionary War. Hogg is an ancestor of Governor James Stephen Hogg (1851-1906)."[3]
