Elizabeth was a daughter of John Holden and Grace (Jennison) Holden. She was born in Watertown, Massachusetts, on 29 July 1709.[1][2]
Elizabeth Holden was married to Henry Goddin in Watertown on 31 May 1728.[3][4] Henry Goding made his will on 9 February 1756, naming his "dearly beloved wife Ellizabeth Goding" to inherit his real and personal estate for use during her remaining life, with the estate to pass after her death to "Jonathan Goding my kinsman whom I brought up." The will did not mention his having any children of his own.[5]
In the Henry Genealogy, Eldridge identifies her as the Elisabeth who was married to Josiah Jones of Concord, Massachusetts, and later married James Henry of Hadley, Massachusetts.[6] This is inconsistent with the records indicating that Elizabeth Holden was married to Henry Goddin. Henry Goddin was still living when Josiah Jones died in Concord on 4 June 1741, so his widow could not have been married to Josiah Jones.[7]
