Born in Dorchester, Mass., 17 June 1741; married 29 Nov. 1764, Rachel Glover, daughter of Alexander and Sarah (White) Glover of Dorchester, born I Oct. 1745, died in Dorchester, 1 June 1811. He married second, 4 Dec. 1811, Mrs. Lydia Davenport, widow of Elisha Davenport, and daughter of William and Hannah Holden of Dorchester, born 4 Nov. 1749. They lived in Dorchester, where he was a tanner. He served in the Revolutionary War, as a private in Lieut. Hopestill Hall's Co. and marched from Dorchester on the Lexington Alarm, 19 April 1775, 12 days service, and was a private in Capt. John Robinson's Co. in Col. Gill's Regt. on duty at the mouth of Milton River 12 days, also in the same company, and Regt. 5 days in March 1776, guarding the lines at Dorchester Heights. He was a member of the Mass. House of Representatives from D~rchester,i n 1792-3,1796, 1798-1802, and was a member of the Senate 1803 to 1816. She died 23 Nov. 1844. He died 22 Sept. 1818.[1]
