Biography

Sarah Huff (c 1829 Claiborne County, Tennessee -  ? ) was the daughter of Daniel Huff (1780 VA - 1862 Claiborn Co, TN) and Mary WALDEN? (1796 VA - ), believed to be the dau of John WALDEN of Cumberland Gap. County

c 1850 she married Lafayett EVANS (son of Elijah and Rutha (HOLT) EVANS. The EVANS family eventually resettled to KY. (A local resident who kept a diary recorded that Sarah was accidentally killed while traveling home in a stage coach, leaving several small children who were cared for by relatives. She also recorded that Lafayett became blind in later life.) In 1860, Lafayette and Sarah had a young family with Daniel's hh.

One record shows that Daniel HUFF went to Claiborne Co soon after 1800. His farm eventually became the site for Lincoln Memorial College. The music conservatory is now where his home was once located. Daniel may have gone to Claiborne Co with his sister and her family. Marcellus and Olive (HUFF) MOSS of Claiborn Co, TN, on 25 Dec 1813 sold Jedruthan STEED of NC 75 acres of land in Brunswick Co, VA, where Mrs. Southy HUFF had lived (part of the estate of Daniel HUFF, who died in 1795). (Claiborn Co D. B. 22, p 289). Olive d in 1821 in Claiborn Co, TN. She and Daniel were both listed on the will of Daniel HUFF of Brunswick Co, in 1795.
