Biography

Mary Hugford was the daughter of John Hugford (or Huggeford), Esq. of Henwood, Warwickshire, and Katherine Heneage.^[1] Her date and place of birth are unknown. Her birth date is estimated based on a marriage date of 1572 and typical marriage age of 17.

Mary married in 1572 to Richard Brent, son of William Brent, of Admington, Gloucestershire.^[1] They had the following children who were named in Mary's will:

• Richard Brent, who had a son Foulke^[1]
• Margaret, married Fowke^[1]
• daughter Colborn^[1]
• daughter [Mary] Catesby^[1]
• daughter Chadwell^[1]

Richard Brent died in 1587 and his widow, Mary, was buried at Ilmington, Gloucestershire on 20 August 1630.^[1] Mary's will dated 9 August 1630 was proved 5 December 1632.^[1]
