Mathew was born in 1835 in Monroe Virginia [1]
In 1850 he was 15 and living in Greenbrier County, Virginia with his parents John and Sarah Humphries (assume spelling was the choice of census taker) [2]
By 1860 he had a wife, Mary, and children Sarah and Thomas, still living in Greenbrier with parents and siblings [3] Mathew died in Abilene Texas in 1894 [4]
