Virgil Woodrow Huntly, son of Frederick Beecher Huntley and Lucy Louise Swaney, was born on 25 Aug. 1916 at Old Lyme, New London County, Connecticut.[1][2]
From 1950 to 1972, Virgil served as Historian of Huntley National and attended some 30 Reunions of the family held from Kentville, Nova Scotia to Fresno, California.[1]
In 1978 he published John Huntley, Immigrant of Boston & Roxbury, Massachusetts and Lyme, Connecticut 1647-1977 and some of his Descendants Book I. It was followed by Book II in 1993 and Book III in 1996.[1]
On Dec. 7, 2013, Virgil received his 65th year in as a member of Mystic VFW Post 3263. His photo and comments were included in an article in theday.com.
Virgil died on 22 Jan. 2018 at Groton, New London County, Connecticut and was buried at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, New London County, Connecticut. Virgil never married. His memorial has photos, an extensive biography, and links to those of family members.[1]
