Biography

Edward Hyde, the son of Robert Hyde and Jane Davenport, was born ABT 1549, Norbury, Cheshire, England

He was likely the Edward Hyde who was member of the corporation of Salisbury in 34 Elizabeth (1591).

He passed away in 1597 leaving two children, Ann and William by an (as yet) unknown first wife, and a son, Edward, by his later wife, Alice St. Barbe Batt. [1]

Edward's Will mentions: daughter Ann, son William, brother Mr. William Barksdale, son Edward H, John Batt and his wife, Thomas Batt, John Windover and Dorothie [Batt] his wife, Margerie Batt [Margerie married the following year], brother Hamnett, brother Randoll, brother William, brother Thomas and his wife, brother Pickaver and his wife, cousin Robert Hide and his wife, cousin Lawrence Hide and his wife, brother Panifer? and his wife, “most faithful and loving wife” Alice executrix, overseers: brother Thomas Hide, Doctor Pickaver, cousin Robert Hide, cousin Lawrence Hide, and brother Thomas Parrifer?[2]

Mentioned in the will of his brother-in-law, Edward Langford, in 1594. [3]

Hide-217 and Hyde-229 appear to represent the same person because: Edward's will of 1597 mentions his brothers Hamnett, Randoll, William, and Thomas Hyde

his (second) wife Alice St. Barbe was born ca 1549 also, his sister-in-law's daughter married Henry Hyde, a relation. and he mentions his cousins (actually 1/2 cousins once removed) Laurence Hyde and his wife and Robert Hyde
