Merab Ives was born in 1776 in Goshen, Connecticut to parents David Ives and Eunice Gillett. She married Stephen Kinney on 18 Sep 1791 in Maugerville, Sunbury, New Brunswick, Canada. Children: Eunice Bernice, Israel, Stephen, Mary, Daniel, John Shepherd, Elijah, Esther Rhoda, Abigail, Josiah, Susan, Ruth Ann, James H, Susannah. She died on 23 November 1843 in Greenfield, Canada and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery, Wicklow, Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada.
