Herbert was born in 1883 in Kirkheaton, just outside Huddersfield, Yorkshire. In 1894, he was living in the nearby city of Brighouse. One of his school books, Algebraical Examples for Lower Forms, has the following written on the first page: "Herbert Jackson. Bracken Rd. Lightcliffe Road. Brighouse, Yorkshire. Oct 3rd 1894. BHGS." There is an intersection of Bracken Road and Lightcliffe Road in Brighouse, so perhaps he lived on that corner.
Herbert Jackson migrated from England to Canada.
He immigrated to Canada in 1903.
On 4 January 1912, he married Emma Cockroft in Minto, Manitoba.[1] Herbert and Emma had two daughters, Hilda and Marjorie.
