DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Per feedback from the Johnston Group Project the Y-dna haplogroup of the above mentioned Ronald Johnston is a most likely a close cousin of Major John Johnstone of Stapleton. But it is not of the caskiebien line.
Update: administrator of the Johnson group states that a book written by Loran is not quite correct. He states that the Mulberry Group on the Johnson Dna page is closest to Caskiebien Johnstons. I match with some of the people on the William Johnson and Ann Chew page. Additionally, the group page seems to have this Thomas as a member profile based on the name and Newberry location (two may actually belong to his line).
"Johnson DNA
Johnson DNA Project DNA test results from two descendants of Michael Johnson, said to be a son of Edward Johnson are not a close match to John Johnson, husband of Lucretia Massie Johnson. If Michael is proved to be a son of Edward this would mean Edward and his descendants are not related to the John Johnson line. [6]

Johnstone-2838 and Johnston-2106 appear to represent the same person because: I believe this is my grandfather. I'm a descendant of Jehu John Johnston Sr...--Jehu Johnston Jr. ---> Francis Asbury Johnston--- > Thomas Wiley Johnston---> Francis Asbury Johnston---> Johnnie Osmon Johnston---> Roy Leonard Johnston ---> Rhonda Lynn Johnston ---> Me Ron Johnston Forbus. I think that's my trail.
