According to his pension file, he was born on 14 March 1751 in Ripton Parish in Stratford, Connecticut, now Huntington. In 1776, he belonged to the militia company of Ripton Parish under the command of Capt. Beach Tomlinson, Col Ichabod Lewis, and General Gold Silliman. They were ordered to New York City. He served as a Sergeant.
He was in the Battle of Ridgefield on the front lines, and near General Arnold when the General's horse was shot out from underneath him. He was appointed an Ensign in 1779 by the Connecticut General Assembly.
In 1811, he signed a receipt for his mother's estate distribution.[1]
His will is dated 29 September 1835 and proved on 3 January 1838 in Stratford. He mentions his sons, David Judson, Ager Judson, Philo Judson, decd., and his daughters, Nancy, Betsey, Hannah, and Sarah, and his grandchildren, Nancy Judson, Charles Judson, Hezekiah Tomlinson Judson, Agur Judson, Jr., Alexander Sterling, and Daniel Sterling, Jr.[2]
His inventory was completed on 6 January 1838 in Huntington.[3]
In 1840, his estate distribution was set out to Agur Judson, Jr., David Judson, the heirs of Philo Judson (city, county, and state of New York), Nancy Lockwood, Hannah Sterling, wife of David Sterling, Sally Sterling, wife of Frederick A. Sterling, Betsey Judson, Hezekiah T. Judson (grandson), William Agur Judson (grandson), Alexander F. Sterling (grandson), and Daniel H. Sterling (grandson).[4]
