Biography

Lady Elizabeth Keith was born at Dunnottar Castle, Caithness, Scotland to parents William Keith, 3rd Earl Marischal and Elizabeth Gordon, probably before 1485 based on her first marriage in 1504. She was married twice.

Her first husband was Colin Oliphant, Master of Oliphant, Lord of Kellie, Earl of Oliphant. They married in 1504 had three children together before he passed away in 1513:

1. Laurence Oliphant, later 3rd Lord Oliphant
2. William Oliphant of Newton, mar. his second cousin Margaret Oliphant, 2nd dau. and cohrss. of Andrew Oliphant of Berriedale, and had issue
3. John Oliphant, burgess of Perth 1531, mar. Margaret Swinton, and had issue

Her second husband was Sir William Sinclair-Knight, 4th Lord of Sinclair. They married about 1524 and had two children together:

1. Margaret Sinclair (1525-?)
2. Henry Sinclair, 5th Lord of Sinclair (1527- 1601)

She passed away in Nov 1549 at Castle Hill, Midlothian, Scotland. She is buried at the Gordon Vault, Elgin Cathedral, Morayshire, Scotland
