George, son of Thomas Kempe and Ann Moyle, was born in 1557 and was baptised 29 January 1557 in Wye, Kent, England.[1]
George Kempe is "possibly identical with George Kempe, of Northaw, in Middlesex, in 1593, assessed at thirty pounds for the defence of the Kingdom, and who was prosecuted as a Jesuit concerned in Clerkenwell and Edmonton plots."[2]
No marriage or children have been located for George Kempe. His date of death is unconfirmed.
This is not the George Kempe who was present in the Virginia Colony in the 1650s. He would have been about 100 years old if he were!
This is also not the George Kempe, of Cavendish, who married Mary Corbet as his third wife. That George Kempe was the son of Williame Kempe, of Spain's Hall, Finchingfield, and his wife Mary, daughter of John Colt.[3]
