Biography

Gustavus Kere was baptized on 2 Aug 1712 in Lonmay, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He was the son of Gustavus Kere^[1][2] and his 2nd wife Janet Allen.

On 5 Jun 1742 he married Elizabeth Mackie/Macky in Lonmay, Aberdeenshire.^[3][4] They had eight children, 5 sons and 3 daughters. He is believed to have passed away in 1755 at the age of 43, still living in Scotland.

Research Notes

On some ancestry.com trees, his sons Thomas, James and William are shown as his brothers. While not impossible, this would have meant they were born when Gustavus Senior was ages 46 - 70 and not likely in that day/age.

It is important to note there is a US Social Security application for a Jesse Wilborn Kerr (B. 10 Aug 1888 in Kenton, TN, USA), son of a Gustavis H Kerr and Elisa J Rutledge that appears as a "hint" for this Gustavus. While the dates are wrong, it is possible he is of this line and the spelling of the name changed slightly.
