Sarah Lanning was born 20 February 1792 in Rowan County, North Carolina, the daughter of John Lanning and Sarah Whitaker.[1] She married William Garren on 2 April 1816.[2] They lived in Buncombe County, North Carolina (later Henderson County, then Transylvania County) until her death on 8 February 1868.[3]
Research Notes
The marriage recorded in the William Garren Bible calls her Sarah Anne Lanning, but other records call her only Sarah.
The Garren Goodies website lists the 8 February 1868 death date for Sarah Lanning Garren, citing Lanning Bible Records. Lanning Family History includes a Bible record in the front of the text [unpaged, image 4], which does list a death for Sarah Garren but the date is indecipherable.
