Joseph married Hélène Paradis, daughter of Guillaume Paradis and Jeanne Hudon dite Beaulieu, on 17 January 17 1736 in Kamouraska.[1][2] They had 8 children together, 5 who lived to adulthood:

  2. Jean Baptiste Lebel (1738–1738)
  3. Benjamin Lebel (1739–1791)
  4. Jean Baptiste Lebel (1740–1818)

  6. Joseph Lebel (1744–1774)
  7. Ignace Lebel (1747–1747)
  8. Marie Josephe Lebel (1750–1837)

Joseph was pre-deceased by his wife in 1788. Joseph was buried in Kamouraska on 28 March 1798.[3][4] The age given on his burial record was 88 years.
