Richard was born in 1821. He was the son of Edmund Jennings Lee (1772 - 1843)
Sarah Caldwell Lee Lee (1775 - 1837), and grandson of Richard Henry Lee (mover of the Declaration of Independence in the Continental Congress). He served as Lieut. in Company "G," 2nd VA. Reg't., the"Stonewall Brigade," C.S.A. He was wounded at Kernstown, Virginia, bearing the fallen flag to the front. He served as Judge Advocate and Col. of 2nd Corps A.N., VA. Christian. Soldier. "Simply to thy cross I cling." Richard Lee passed away in 1902, and was buried at the Old Chapel Cemetery, Millwood, Clarke County, Virginia.
