Disputed Origins

Hannah's origins are unknown. She is sometimes found on the internet to be described as a daughter of Robert Lee and Mary (Atwood) Lee of Plymouth. The couple did have a daughter Ann (not Hannah), but beyond being named in her uncle's will, no other information has been found for her. These parents are detached from her profile until quality sources showing that their daughter is the woman who married Sturtevant and Bass.

Biography

Hannah married Samuel Sturtevant about 1646.

Hannah, widow of Samuel Sturtevant, married her second husband, John Bass (bpt 1630) on 21 Sept 1675, in Braintree, Massachusetts.[1][2][3] Bass was previously married to Ruth, daughter of John Alden.[4]

Samuel's wife, in various records, has been listed as Ann, Anna, and Hannah. Her identity and vital dates, except her 2nd marriage to John Bass, have never been proven.

In 1681 Anne Bass, for consideration deed land to her eldest son Samuel, that was left to her sons by their father, Samuel Sturtevant.[5]

This profile originally came into WikiTree as Hannah Unknown, wife of Sturtevant in 2019. In 2020, Ann Lee's profile with the father Robert Lee and mother Mary Atwood (also intended as the wife of Sturtevant) was merged into the last name Unknown. Considering that this profile was originally intended to represent the wife of Sturtevant, whose parentage was unknown, I propose we disconnect the parents from this profile, and create a new Ann Lee to represent the daughter of Robert Lee, who was named in her uncle's will.

UPDATE: The conflated elements have been removed. Thank you for your input.

the Hannah might come from 3 generations up from

Ann Anna Hannah Janett Lee Ring 1577–1669 mother of John Sturtevant 1596 BIRTH 1577 • London, London, England DEATH 1669 • Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States 11th great-grandmother married Samuel Ebenezer Sturtevant , 1641 immigrant 1575–1669 BIRTH 1575 • Nottinghamshire, England DEATH 16 OCT 1669 • Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States 11th great-grandfather

(I cant see any Hannah above Bass) there is Hannah Bass , so maybe Ann Lee was Hannah or she was just named Hannah after Sturtevant cousins

Unknown-454043 and Lee-42 appear to represent the same person because: clearly intended to be the same person, lots of discussion about her name, Hannah vs. Anna and whether or not she is "Lee". This is well documented on Lee-42.

Lee-15832 and Lee-42 appear to represent the same person because: Please note Profile Lee-15832 is somewhat of a conflation (it's confusing two people into one) but the overall pattern shows it's an exact match for Lee-42. I'm pretty certain that who-ever created 15832 was trying to recreate Lee-42. So, please approve and execute this merge to eliminate the dupe. Thanks.

Her last name at birth should be changed to Unknown and a more appropriate birth given. Say about 1625.

Attached to Wrong John Bass. Should be John bpt 1630. Surname should be Unknown. She was the widow of Samuel Sturdevant. Fixing attachment

Robert Lee was her father, not her husband as the bio shows. Her 2nd husband was John Bass of Braintree. Also, FYI: AGBI is only a compilation of family trees, most of which are unsourced. Family trees are not considered actual sources. I did add the Tilson book to your list of sources.
