Herman was born 3 Mar 1913 in Mississippi.^[1]

In the 1920 census Herman (age 7) was the son of Thomas H Leslie in Verona, Lee, Mississippi, United States.^[2]

In the 1930 census Herman (age 17) was the single lodger of Hollis Mattox in Verona, Lee, Mississippi, United States.^[3] Other lodgers are his brothers, Dewey and Tom. There is a grandson, James R. Leslie. who is apparently the son of Oleta (Maddox) Leslie. Who the husband of Oleta might be is not evident. Very likely it is one of the Leslie brothers in the household. But, which one?

Herman married Alma Etta Wilson. She was born 1912 and died 1998.

In the 1940 census Herman (age 26) was the married head of household in Beat 3, Prentiss, Mississippi, United States. He was a farmer.^[4]

Herman A Lesley died (age 79) on 9 Oct 1992 residing in Sheffield, Colbert, Alabama.^[1]

He was buried in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence, Lauderdale County, Alabama. ^[5]
