This is the date of his father's will, where Jabez is reported as deceased.[1]
1777
In 1804, Jabez Lockwood, Jr., son of Jabez Lockwood, Sr. and Sarah Bennett, filed a petition for a land grant in New Brunswick, Canada, based on his father's service in the British Army. In that petition, he states that his father "rendered essential services to His Majesty's army in the beginning of the late American Rebellion and who died in the King's service at New York in 1777".
His inventory was completed on 27 March 1781 and not recorded in the Fairfield town books until 1794. The estate was deemed insolvent. [3]
