Dubgall mac Somairle is the son of Somairle mac Gille Brigte, regulus of Argyll. Dubgall is the progenitor and firt Chief of Clan MacDougall of Argyllll (Clann Dubhghaill). [1]

Eugene Quigley
Argyll is not an appropriate last name at birth for this person it should be 'mac Somairle' or 'macSomairle' or or 'MacSomairle' but not Argyll. Later the lineage the cognomen the 'Ergadia' was associated with some family members.
