Disconnected Relationship
John Fergus Maccubbin, born in 1605, and his wife Sarah Black, born in 1608, were previously shown as the parents of John Maccubbin, born 1640, immigrant to Maryland, possibly via Virginia. No documentation has yet been found for such a relationship and it has been disconnected. If documentation is found, the connection can easily be restored.
John was born about 1603. He passed away in 1660. He was the occupant of Knockdolian in Ayrshire, near Ballantrae on the Water of Tig,

She was my 8th GGM as well...my mother was a Brewer. I don`t have any references other than those available to everyone, so I am equally disappointed. I even made a trip to Knockdolian a few years back and regret I don`t have a concrete relation to it. But let us keep searching.
I'm interested in learning more about the sources that were used to create another John Fergus Maccubbin? It's unlikely that Sarah married two different J.F.Maccubbins! Not sure any of us will ever sort out who's who at that stage. The son John Maccubbin's history in Maryland is well documented, but material about his parentage seems to be impossible to find. Even the fact that he is always named as "Sr." is curious if his father was one of the Johns. The situation seemed to suggest that a merge be made, but the differences in exact locations and very different death dates do not make this reasonable. I think disconnecting the immigrant from either one was a wise decision since we simply don't know enough to establish who his father was. I appreciate the contributions made to the tree. Sarah is my 8th great grandmother.
