James was born on August 24, 1832 in Virginia.[1] He is the son of James and Lucetta Newman Mason and is listed in their household on the 1850 Census in Orange County, Virginia.[2] On September 10, 1877 he married Jennie M. Bridge in Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[3] The couple are listed together on both: the 1880 Census[4] and the 1900 Census[5] with their three children in Henrico, Virginia. His wife passed away in 1907[6] and he passed away in March of 1920.
James, II is buried at Hollywood Cemetery in the City of Richmond, Virginia. [7]
