Mrs Elizabeth Holford^[1]

Elizabeth was born about 1527 (the settlement for her marriage to Peter Shakerley was dated 2 September, 1539,^[2] her birth year is based on the assumption she was 12 when this occurred).

She was the daughter of Sir Randell Mainwaringe of Pevor, Knight,^[1] ie Peover Superior, Cheshire, England.

Elizabeth was married twice, to:

1. Peter Shakerley;^[1] Elizabeth and Peter had children:
   1. Geoffrey Shakerley, son and heir, married Jane, eldest daughter of Sir George Bestone, Knight,^[1] and in 1601 Geoffrey and Jane had:
      1. Hugh Shakerley, son and heir, married to Margaret, daughter of Thomas Bunbury of Stanney,^[1] and in 1601 Hugh and Margaret had:
         1. Geoffrey Shakerley, died young;^[1] and
         2. Peter Shakerley, heir apparent in 1601.^[1]
   2. Elinor Shakerley, who was married to Thomas Mynshull of Erdeswyke, gent,^[1] and in 1601 Elinor and Thomas had:
      1. Thomas Myshull;^[1]
   3. Dorothie Shakerley, who was married to Adam Leycester of Tabley, esq;^[1] and in 1601 Dorothie and Adam had:
      1. Peter Leycester;^[1]
   4. Margaret Shakerley, unmarried in 1601;^[1]
2. Christopher Holford, esq;^[1] Elizabeth and Christopher had one child:

On 2 September, 1539, a settlement was made for the marriage of Peter Shakerley and Elizabeth Mainwaring of Peover.^[2]

Elizabeth Holforde, widow, died 15 May, 1601.^[1] Her Funeral Certificate was signed by Geoffrey Shakerley,^[1] her son.
