William was born in 1850 in Shenston, Staffordshire, England. He was the son of George Matthews.
William was baptised on 26 May 1850 in Horwich Chapel, Horwich, Lancashire, England.
In the 1881 census William (age 31), Labourer Brewers, was the married head of household in Village, Rolleston, Staffordshire, England.[1]
William died at the age of 76 on 24 July 1926.
William was buried after 24 July 1926 in Rolleston Churchyard.
