Biography

Edmund Muxum, son of Samuel Muxum and Hannah Perry, was b. about 1707, either in Sandwich or Rochester. He married Abigail Ellis about 1741 and they had either eight or nine children together. [1]

In late 1753, accusations of adultery were entered against Abigail Ellis in the Wareham Church. She apparently believed that Lemuel was the child of Dr. Joseph Benson. She was excommunicated thirty years later in July of 1783, after Edward's death.[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Edmund by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Edmund:

Maxim-97 and Maxhim-1 do not represent the same person because: different data

Maxim-97 and Maxhim-1 appear to represent the same person because: They appear to be the same. The name is spelled various ways. Maxim-97 was an unsourced, unconnected profile but I believe it should be merged into Maxhim-1 as the family is already there.

Edmund Muxham (Maxim) is a descendant of William Brewster. The line is a proven Mayflower line.

Maxhim-1 and Maxham-40 appear to represent the same person because: similar name and matching biographical data

Maxham-60 and Maxhim-1 appear to represent the same person because: Abigail Ellis only married once to Edmund (Maxhim, Maxham, Muxum). Please review the Church Records of Wareham, MA 1739-1891 where "Rebecca, daughter to Edmund & Abigail Muxom, bad, 10 Oct 1742". As Rebecca is the oldest child, Edmund and Abigail married probably about a year before.

I would like someone to review the adultery case for Abigail Ellis Muxsom. See Plymouth Court Cases in vol 3. (http://www.newenglandancestors.org). If I read the pages correctly, it states that Abigail is a widow in 1768. So the transfer of Edmund's property in 1783 may be after the death of Abigail.

Thanks for your help.

There are many spellings for the Maxham family as described in the TAG 1981 article. I have chosen to use Muxum as this seems to be the spelling of the time.

A good source of information for the Maxim-Maxxam-Maxam family is found at TAG vol 57, p. 209, 1981. Their suggested birthdate for Edmund is about 1714.
