Mercy Mayo was born on 27 February 1718/9 in Eastham, Barnstable, Province of Massachusetts Bay, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Higgins) Mayo.[1][2]. Mercy was descended from Mayflower passenger Thomas Rogers through her mother (Elizabeth Higgins4, Hannah Rogers3, Joseph Rogers2, Thomas Rogers)
She married Elkanah Young on 28 October 1736 in Eastham. He was born 17 June 1711 in Eastham, the son of Nathan and Rebecca (Shaw) Young. Elkanah died Eastham before 1 March 1763.[2]
Joseph Cole Jr. of Eastham was appointed guardian to Bathsheba, Elkanah, Thomas and Deborah, the children of Elkanah Young late of Eastham, deceased on 1 March 1763.[2]
