Biography

Elizabeth McCarty, daughter of Darby and Hannah McCarty, was born June 18, 1748.[1]

Research Notes

Location Notes

Botetourt County did not exist until 1769; Shenandoah County did not exist until 1778.[2] Elizabeth, born 1748, was probably born on her father's land in Augusta County (where he is shown in a March 1747/8 survey).[3]
"Colonial Governor Gooch formally purchased the entire Shenandoah Valley from the Six Nations of the Iroquois by the Treaty of Lancaster in 1744."[4]

Richardson?

Although DAR names Darby's wife as "Hannah Richardson", this needs to be collaborated. (The DAR online database does not show the source for "Richardson" and her parents are not named.)[5]
A profile can have only one mother, and Richardson-1168 is attached (as of August 4, 2017). Perhaps someone who shares the ancestry attached to her will have proof. Alternatively, his mother could be Unknown-207852.

McCarty-2724 and McCarty-157 appear to represent the same person because: despite different profiles for mother, these duplicate profiles should be merged (same father/same birth date). Carolyn - sorry, I hit the wrong button & adopted McCarty-157. Hope you don't mind.

McCarty-2724 and McCarty-157 do not represent the same person because: There is too much bad information in the tree for me to merge my tree with it.
