"David McCord (Jr.) came to Knox Co. at the same time as his brother John(see David McCord & John McCord on preceding page). He located on SurveyNo. 7 not far from Ft. Knox and was a prominent farmer. His log house instill standing (1929) on farm now owned by W.B. Purcell whose wife was agrand-daughter of David. He was a Ruling Elder in Indiana PresbyterianChurch for many years, being elected to that office July 27, 1832.
David McCord married Dorcas Rosebrough in 1808. Twelve children: WilliamR. m. Eliza Jane Gibson; Robert m. (1) Martha McClure Nov.7, 1832 (2)Miriam Grinly Sept. 2, 1879; John m. ; Orpha Ann m. Samuel Thompson;Tirzah m. Garret; Pegga (alias Margaret) m. Thomas McClure; Serelda m.Irwin Hogue; Rhoda m. Frank McClure; Malinda (2nd wife) m. John NewtonMcCord; Eliza m. John Armstrong; Dorcas Jane m. H.B. Collins; Martha A.m. Rogert Hodgens."
"David McCord, settled here about 1821 and he was at that time a manof forty years, his birth having occurred January 25, 1781. His wife,Dorcas Rosebrough, was born April 24, 1788, and was eighty-three years ofage at the time of her death."
