Sources

  • Tithes : John McCord1- Bedford County in Virginia Genealogical Soc. Quarterly vol:23 number:3 page:73 Aug.1985
  • the research of Guyte and Jean McCord of Tallahassee, Florida indicated that Robert and David McCord who had come to Tennessee from Georgia (circa 1820) had as their father John McCord (of Bedford County Virginia) the son of William McCord who built McCord's Fort in Pennsylvania. McCord family Bibles; transcribed family pages with explanation by Clan president James McCord [1]
  • further discussion a grand-daughter of William McCord (of the Fort) in a letter of 1886 says that his wife was either Jane Lowry (Lowery) or Mary Irwin..... If John of Bedford County is the son of William of the Fort, it makes the introduction of Mary Irwin into the family naming more probable http://iagenweb.org/page/famrecd/McCord/page3.htm
