Biography

Hugh, Jr. was born about 1758 in Rowan County, NC. He was the son of Hugh McCrary and Susannah Whitaker and he was one of at least nine children.

Hugh McCrary and Charity Sluder (1781-1810) were married 11 Apr 1795 in Rowan County, North Carolina and together they had the several childen, including Boyd M, Hiram, and Joel. At this time, DNA has been confirmed with descendants of Boyd and Joel.

A Family Record Sheet of Buncombe County, North Carolina Genealogical Society, states Hugh also married Mary Sluder. Note, marriage date and records not found, although assumed after passing of Hugh's wife Charity. Reader must bear in mind, however, there have been several 'Hugh McCrary' of North Carolina.

Hugh passed away on 11 Oct 1830 in Rowan County, NC.
