Notes

Note NI0468. Thomas Smith McLaren, born 14th April 1850, baptised 2nd May 1850 at Gallowfauld. In the 1861 census, he was age 10, a scholar living at Gallowfauld. Thomas died at 9:00pm on 1st December 1873, age 23 years, he was single and employed as a maltster. He died at Gallowfauld, cause of death was phthisis and his brother William reported the death. Thomas is buried at Inverartity.
Thomas is buried at Inverarity Churchyard, and the inscription reads;
"Erected by George McLaren, Gallowfauld in memory of his daughter Margaret who died 19th January 1842 age 2 ½ years, his son who died in infancy 24th July 1860, his son Thomas died 1st December 1873 age 23 years 9 months and Helen Mitchell his wife who died 19th March 1875 age 63. His daughter Jane, wife of James Constable died 25th January 1877 age 39 years interred at Monikie. His son James who died 15th January 1878 age 34 years."
