David Melven, the son of Capt. David and Mary (Farrar) Melvin, and was born in Concord on February 24, 1720/1. [1][2]
He married Abigail Davis (p. 61) [3] at Concord on August 1, 1751. [1] Abigail was born at Concord, Massachusetts on March 22, 1726/7, daughter of Dr. John and Abigail (Dudley) Davis.[1][2]
In the will of her father, dated September 3, 1762, Dr. John Davis a bequest was made to daughter Abigail Melvin among others. [3][4]
They resided in the north part of Concord which was sometimes called the Carlisle Precinct. (p. 263) [2]
On February 24, 1774, David Melvin, his wife Abigail signing her dower rights, sold for sixty pounds thirty four acres of land in north Concord to Abishai and Jacob Brown (p. 263) [2] [Middlesex County Deeds: Vol. 76: p. 275]
David Sr. Melven died at Concord on October 27, 1787 aged 67 years. [1]
His estate was administered on March 14, 1788 by his widow Mrs. Abigail Melvin and his son Isaac. His inventory was taken May 12, 1788. [2][5]
On February 10, 1789, David Melvin, Samuel and Sarah (Davis) Melvin, John and Hepsibah Wyman, Solomon and Abigail Fletcher, Beulah Melvin, and Sibyl Melvin gave a quitclaim deed of their rights in a house barn and thirty five acres of land which formerly belonged to their late deceased father David Melvin. [2]
His widow Abigail died there January 19, 1798 aged 71 years. [1][2]
