Biography

John Melvin was born in 1791, the fifth of 13 known children of Jonathan Melvin and Beulah Leland. He was born in Massachusetts probably in Grafton. He died in 1792 and was buried in Grafton. [1]

Research Notes

The Leland Magazine source on-line has lost its table formatting making it very hard to read. The page displaying his father Jonathan and his descendants currently appears on his page in Find A Grave.[4]

The list of children in the Sherman Leland Magazine is problematic. In many places it agrees with other sources but its list of birth dates does not agree with other well attested sources. The dates on this page come from the Decoursey.ged but with no source.
