Biography

Birth: "Jabez the son of Nathaniel Mix was Born the 12th day of september 1731," in New Haven.[1] Jacobus' Families of Ancient New Haven has this date as 12 Sep 1728[2] This could be a typo on the part of Jacobus or the Vital record transcribers. The church record of his death says he died 1762 ae 31. 1762-31=1731. So until original records are checked it should be 1731.

Baptism: At the age of 5, on 24 July 1737, Jabez was baptized at First Congregational Society of New Haven, [2]

Education: He received a B.A. from Yale in 1751[2].

Marriage: 12 Feb 1759 New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut he married Jemima Brown, daughter of John Brown (1706-ca 1758) & Phebe Munson (1709/10-aft 1785). She was baptized at the First Congregational Society, New Haven, on 3 Sep 1738. She married (2) Jeremiah Barnett and (3) Charles Sabin[2].

He is mentioned in his father's sister, Hannah Brinsmade's distribution in 1763.[3]

Death: 1762 in New Haven according to the Church Record at First Congregational Church. More specifically, 5 Oct 1762, was on his tombstone at the City Burial Ground, New Haven County, Connecticut[2][4]

Children:

  1. Mary, b. 17 June 1760, New Haven m. William Noyes[2].
  2. Anna, b. 6 Feb 1762, m. Isaac Gilbert[2].
