Claimed Biography

Robin "Ostenaco" was born about 1723.

In June 1762 she went to England.

She passed away on 23 Oct 1806 at Reddies River, Wilkes County, North Carolina. [citation needed]

Disputed Origins / Existence / Relations

We are seeking sources for the following claims ...

a) named Robin
b) Native American
c) daughter of known Cherokee Chief Ostenaco
d) married Rowland Judd, Sr.

It has been claimed that she was the daughter of Chief Oconostota ... but there is documentation of only one son; therefore, she's been detached as daughter.

Her claimed Native American mother (Ooloo Tsa Moytoy) has been detached.

Sources are sought to support the existence as well as the Native American origins of this woman and her parents. Until solid evidence can be found that she was daughter of Ostenaco and wife of Rowland Judd, Sr., she has been detached.

NOTE: The wikipedia entry for Ostenaco makes reference to only one unnamed daughter, who married Henry Timberlake (not Judd). [1]

I've detached the spouse and children from the other duplicate.

These are clearly meant to be the same women. Rowland Judd had no Cherokee connection. This woman is probably completely mythical. Rowland Judd’s actual wives are attached to his profile. This profile should be detached and marked as fictional.

My dad born in 1916 said we had Native ancestors. I have Native DNA, I do not know for sure who Rowland Judd Sr was married to. She may have been Native but maybe not the one in question,

Rowland Judd married and had children long before he moved to North Carolina. There is no connection between his family and any Cherokee people.

Moytoy-205 and Moytoy-116 appear to represent the same person because: dups with same husband

Moytoy-205 and Moytoy-116 seem to represent the same woman, wife of Rowland Judd. It looks like they should be merged.

Ostenaco has nothing to do with Rowland Judd. Ostenaco was acquainted with a Carolina trader named Judd and was referred to in documents as Judd's Friend before 1750. Rowland Judd was an indentured servant in Philadelphia until at least 1750 and did not move to North Carolina until about twenty years later. Ostenaco is referred to as Judd's Friend in South Carolina colonial records from the first half of the 1740's. (According to the biography published in the Journal of Cherokee Studies, some records call him 'Judge's Friend.') 'Emigrants to Pennsylvania 1641-1819' records Rowland Judd's indenture in Philadelphia in 1745. He next appears in Pittsylvania County, Virginia in 1765, and in North Carolina in 1772. It is not possible that he was a friend of Ostenaco, who was born about 1705, when Ostenaco was a young man. Rowland Judd did not arrive in America until after Ostenaco was middle-aged and a well-known leader among the Cherokee, and lived hundreds of miles away from the Cherokee Nation until Ostenaco was 60 years old.
