Jonette "Jean Murray" was born circa 1541, in Tullibardine Parish, Perth and Kinross, Scotland, the daughter of Sir William Murray, 10th of Tullibardine and Katherine Campbell. Lady Jean married on 27 Jul 1561[1]James Henderson, who was stylized as "The 3rd Baron of Fordell, son of William Henderson and Elizabeth Scott. [2]
Death Conflict of Death date. Find a Grave lists death year as 1571. This is an error. National Records of Scotland, Papers of the Henderson Family of Fordell show Jean was alive, and an active decision maker up to 1601. Jean has a death date of May 04, 1614 in family genealogies. [3]But I have not found a source other than recent family histories to coorberate this May 04, 1614 death date. We can confirm she was alive in 1601. Stewart-35389

King James IV gave the lands of Fordell to the Henderson Clan in 1511, which is now Fife, Scotland. The castle wasn’t built until 1567. A bridge leads to the entrance of the castle, past a weir that used to hold back the waters of the Fordell Burn, and a lake that has dried up. Historical records show that Mary, Queen of Scots visited as a guest when Marion Scott, her lady-in-waiting, married George Henderson, the laird.
Lady Jean died after 4 July 1601, and was buried in the Fordell Castle Chapel Crypt. [6] Her husband was born in 1545, at Fordell, the son of Sir William Henderson. James died in 1611, and was buried in the Chapel Crypt with her.[7] The death date on Find A Grave of 1571 is an error . Papers of the Henderson Family of Fordell, show she was alive after that year.[3][8]
Lady Jean of Tullibardine is a well-researched personage, whose pedigree is listed in the Peerage documents. Her descendants include U.S. President Wilson, and she is related to (12th great-aunt) Prime Minister Winston Churchill and (14th great-aunt) of Lady Diana. [9]
