hillorymcdaniel re Peggy Hall Neff:
Peggy Hall is the daughter of Alabama Hall born March 12, 1881 in Harlan, Kentucky. She married Samuel Jones in 1899. She had two daughters from that marriage, Allyfair and Abigale. Sam was killed in a coal mine and the two little girls died within two weeks of their father's death. She married Charles Houston Neff in Lee County, Virginia, in 1909. Charles traveled with work and had custody of his children Lizzie, and Laura and needed someone to care for them while he was away from home. Peggy worked in Pennington Gap and after they met she cared for them. Charlie and Peggy had three sons, Bradley, William and Bud. They also had three daughters, Dora, Georgia and Ada. They moved from Lee County, Virginia, to Harlan County, Kentucky, in 1930 after the murder of son Bradley. They lived in Pounding Mill until their deaths, his in 1964 and hers in 1971. They are buried in Neff cemetery in Pounding Mill.[2]
