Patricia Neal is Notable.

Patricia Neal was born in a mining camp in Packard, Kentucky, the daughter of a transportation manager for the South Coal & Coke Co.

In 1943, Patricia Neal graduated from Knoxville High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. She then left to attend Northwestern University, and then went on to Broadway in New York, where she first became an award-winning Broadway actress.

In 1953, she married British author Roald Dahl. They had five children together.

In 1962, she lost her daughter to measles.

She won an Academy Award for her role as a housekeeper in the 1963 film, "Hud."

In 1965 she suffered a series of strokes at age 39. After that, she struggled to regain her ability to walk and talk. The Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center was erected in her honor in Knoxville, Tennesse, where she grew up.

In 1968, she had recovered enough to star in "The Subject Was Roses," for which she gained another Oscar nomination. But the strokes left her with a limp and bad vision in one eye.

In 1983, Patricia and Roald were divorced.

In 1988 she published her biography, "As I Am."

She died from lung cancer, at her home on Sunday, 8 Aug 2010, in Edgartown, on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Her death was reported by her long-time friend Bud Albers of Knoxville.

Her daughter Tessa Dahl also became a writer. Tessa's daughter is model and writer Sophie Dahl.[1]
