Biografi

Biography

In the sagas Gyrid was the daughter of King Olof Björnsson of Sweden and Queen Ingeborg Thrandsdotter.

Gunhild is mentioned as a wife of Harald "Bluetooth" Gormsson by Adam of Bremen as a wife of Harald.

Gyrid/Gyritha/Gunhild

"of Sweden", sister of Styrbjörn "den Starke/the Strong", a king in Sweden and was married to Harald "Bluetooth" Gormsson. This marriage seems only be referred to by Saxo Grammaticus], who says that Styrbjörn had sought help from King Harald after being deposed as king in Sweden by his cousin and granted Harald his sister in marriage.[1]

It is not known whether she was the mother to any of the children of Harald Blåtand. Some legends/stories/sagas mention they married within a couple of years before Harald's death.

Olafsdatter-48 and Olofsdotter-3008 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, both married to Bluetooth

Is this profile supposed to represent the wife of Harald Bluetooth or should she be linked to the DeCrepon family?

Bjornsdottir-30 and Olafsdottir-20 appear to represent the same person because: Either she is Björnsdotter or Olofsdotter, she can not be both. Most likely she is the same as Olofsdottir-20

While it is a great thing to work on eliminating doubtful or improper profiles, over time, incautious merges can create quite a tangle. I always took care to mention alternate dates and information, (see "ALTERNATE INFO" in the profile) but it appears sometimes, other identities have been ignored and lost. Due to naming traditions, many people in a community or family can have the same name. This is how someone becomes his own uncle or grandfather, and why gender mix-ups happen. Prior to merging, extreme caution should be taken to verify every detail.

The birth location is certainly wrong. "Lot-et-Garonne" (created 1790) is a long way from Normandy.

Olafsdottir-39 and Olafsdottir-20 appear to represent the same person because: Married to the same man so they need to be merged. Other data is speculative

Olafsdottir-34 and Olafsdottir-20 appear to represent the same person because: No reason not to merge. Olafsdottir-34 has no content apart from date guesses.

Olafsdottir-58 and Olafsdottir-20 are not ready to be merged because: Dates and places are way off.

Olafsdottir-58 and Olafsdottir-20 appear to represent the same person because: Olafsdottir-20 is a fictionalised version of Gyrid, time-travelled into a different myth. She needs merging away.
